Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we are in-network providers with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Mass General Brigham Health Plan for sports chiropractic, physical rehabilitation and nutrition counseling. Patients are responsible for verifying insurance benefits prior to scheduling.
We are “out-of-network” providers with other health insurance companies. This means we charge our fee at the time of your visit and then provide you with a Superbill (detailed invoice) for you to submit to your insurance. If your insurance benefits apply, you will get reimbursed directly by your insurance company for the visit. Most insurance plans do have out-of-network coverage for chiropractic, physical rehabilitation and nutrition counseling.
How do I determine my out-of-network benefits?
Call the toll free # on the back of your insurance card and select the option that will allow you to speak with a customer service provider.
Ask the customer service provider to quote the specific benefits you’re interested in - chiropractic, physical therapy and/or nutrition counseling (also known as medical nutrition therapy).
Make sure the customer service provider understands you are seeing an out of network provider, via direct access or for whom you have a doctor‘s referral.
Ask if your policy requires preauthorization or a referral on file for the service?
Ask if you have a deductible?
If so, how much is it?
How much is already met?
What percentage of reimbursement do you have? (60%, 80%, 90%, are all common)
Does the rate of reimbursement change because you’re seeing a non preferred provider?
Does your policy require a written prescription from your primary care physician?
If yes, do they have one on file?
Is there a $ or visit limit per year?
Do you require a special form to be filled out to submit a claim?
What is the mailing address you should submit claims/ reimbursement forms to?
This might sound like a lot of steps but it’s usually a quick 5-minute call!
Do you offer packages or plans for those requiring long-term care?
Yes!
For chiropractic/physical rehabilitation we offer a 10-visit bundled package at a 10% discount.
Do I need a referral?
It’s unlikely that you need a referral to begin care with any of our providers at Back Bay Health. However, we recommend that you consult with your health insurance provider to verify this prior to scheduling.
How long will it take to get better?
It depends! Everyone has a unique story and unique needs when it comes to their plan. After a thorough assessment we will work with you to design a plan that meets your needs and provide an expected length of time and frequency of visits.
Should I see a chiropractor or physical therapist for my pain?
Good question! We have so much to say on this topic but we’ll try to keep it short. Basically, for most musculoskeletal (muscle and joint) issues it shouldn’t matter who you see. (That is, if the professional is taking an evidence-based approach to care.)
Both degrees require a doctorate-level education and much of the training overlaps (hopefully). With that said, much like medical doctors can specialize in treating a certain condition or group of people, the same can be said for chiropractic and physical therapy. So it’s best to match up with a health care provider who helps people like you reach their goals. If you’d like to learn more about our team and their areas of expertise, check out their profiles.
Where can I find you?
Our address is 665 Boylston St #3 Boston, MA 02116 - we’re located at the Boston Marathon finish line in the heart of Back Bay across from the Boston Public Library.
The office is easily accessed through public transportation via the MBTA Green Line and Commuter Rails that stop at the Back Bay station. If driving, we recommend using SpotHero to search for affordable parking options.
All services are available for virtual/telehealth visits as well, so you can access care from anywhere!
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes, we have virtual appointments available for all services offered at Back Bay Health.
What about supplements and lab tests?
After thorough evaluation we may recommend specific supplements and lab testing.
We work with Fullscript for physician-grade supplements and InsideTracker, Genova Diagnostics, Quest Diagnostics, Great Plains Laboratories, and Precision Analytical/DUTCH test for laboratory testing.
If nutritional supplements and lab testing are needed, they will be personalized based on your needs. Please schedule a discovery call with us to determine what sort of recommendations may be appropriate for you.
Do you accept Medicare?
No, unfortunately we do not accept Medicare.
